Hello! We’re Becky and Katrina, the founders of SEND Parents in Power, and we'd love to tell you a little about us and why we created this service.

First and foremost, we're mums to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and we know first hand how challenging the SEND journey can be. We know what it's like to sit in meetings feeling unsure, to read through reports trying to understand what they mean, to complete paperwork, ask questions and keep pushing for the right support for your child.

The SEND world can feel overwhelming. There are so many processes, reports, meetings and decisions to navigate, often at a time when you are already trying to support your child and your family. We've been there ourselves. We've experienced the worry, the frustration, the moments where you question whether you're doing enough, and the determination to make sure your child's needs are understood and their voice is heard.

Through our own experiences, we realised how many families are left feeling lost, exhausted and unsure where to turn. Parents shouldn't have to become experts in SEND law and processes just to make sure their child gets the support they need. That's why we created SEND Parents in Power.

We wanted to create the kind of support we would have valued ourselves: someone who listens, someone who understands, and someone who can help make a complicated system feel a little easier to navigate.

Alongside our lived experience as SEND parents, we bring more than 10 years of combined experience supporting children, young people and families. We have completed extensive training in SEND law, SEND advocacy and SEND processes, giving us a strong understanding of the legal framework, guidance and practical processes that underpin support for children and young people with SEND. Becky is also studying for a law degree at university, further strengthening the knowledge and expertise we bring to the families we support.

We take the time to listen to your concerns, understand your child's needs and provide clear, honest guidance to help you feel more confident moving forward. Whether you need support with an EHCP, help preparing for meetings, advocacy, support with applications, guidance around SEND processes or simply someone to talk things through with, we're here to support you.

Most importantly, we want families to feel heard. We want parents and carers to know that they are not alone, that their concerns matter and that they have someone in their corner.

At SEND Parents in Power, you'll receive a friendly, honest and personalised service from people who genuinely understand the journey you are on.
